In 2022, national storage capacity was expanded from around 9.2 TWh to 9.9 TWh, sufficient to cover over 30% of Denmark’s annual gas consumption, as well as neighbouring countries’ needs. The gas storage facilities are used to compensate for seasonal fluctuations in consumption and for commercial balancing purposes to reduce gas price differences.
